As reported by Australian media, Jake Fraser-McGurk is not in the reckoning as the young batter doesn’t have enough international experience.
Uncapped Australia batter Jake Fraser-McGurk has brought Delhi Capitals back to life in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 with his ferocious stroke play. The 22-year-old batter has scored three half-centuries in 5 games, two of them being the fastest for DC in the tournament history. With 247 runs at a strike rate of 237.50, the youngster has knocked at the Australian selectors’ door just before they pick the squad for the T20 World Cup 2024.

But despite making the right noises at the right time, the right-hand batter might miss the flight to the West Indies and the US, along with former captain Steve Smith. As reported by codesports.com.au, Fraser-McGurk is not in the reckoning as the young batter doesn’t have enough international experience.
“Having never played a T20 international and with just two one-dayers for Australia to his name, Fraser-McGurk would have needed to come from the clouds to make the squad,” the report stated.

“However his stunning entrance into the (IPL) … had accelerated the public push towards his inclusion, with former Test skipper Tim Paine and ex-national selector Mark Waugh among those who had called for him to be named in the squad.
“But the panel of George Bailey, Tony Dodemaide and national coach Andrew McDonald will remain loyal to the group of players they had been priming for a tilt at an unprecedented triple crown of global men’s titles, with Australia having won the World Test Championship final and one-day World Cup last year,” it further read.
