Kevin Pietersen is currently in India for IPL commentary duties and he’s using the time to explore authentic local dishes.

England batting legend Kevin Pietersen was spotted feasting upon one of Delhi’s classic delicacies.

Amid the busy Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, the cricketer-turned-commentator took some time out to explore authentic Indian cuisines.

He shared a picture of himself on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) seated in one of Delhi’s restaurants and having Chole Bhature.

This classic combination of fried bread with chickpea curry is one of the most popular breakfast items in the country. In the photograph, Pietersen can be seen rocking a powder blue polo t-shirt as he dives into the Indian delicacy.

He asked his followers to guess the dish he was having.

“Name the food? A favourite Delhi Delicacy! Yum yum!”, he wrote.

Pietersen recently visited the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh to attend an IPL 2024 fixture between the Lucknow Super Giants and the Rajasthan Royals last week.

As he arrived at the city’s airport, the Englishman was left astounded by the newly constructed terminal. The former English skipper shared his opinion of the new airport development on X.

“The Street of Flowers here at the brand new airport terminal in Lucknow. World class! Wow, what an incredible job done by all for this most beautiful state. I’m sure Minister Yogi Adityanath must be super proud! India is BOOMING!”, he wrote.

Pietersen is widely recognised as one of the finest batters to have played for England.

Known for his flamboyant batting, Pietersen was quite an entertainer.

He amassed over 8181 runs in Test cricket at an average of 47.28.

He represented England in 136 ODIs and 37 T20Is registering 5616 runs.

He even scalped 18 wickets across the three formats in international cricket. The English icon was also the Man of the Tournament in his country’s World Twenty20 triumph in 2010.

In the IPL, Pietersen made his debut in 2009 when he represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He played for the franchise for two seasons, scoring 329 runs in 13 matches. He skipped the 2011 season before making his way to the Delhi Capitals where he played two seasons in 2012 and 2014.

Pietersen played 19 games for the Delhi-based franchise while scoring 599 runs which includes an unbeaten 103-run knock. The Englishman played in his final IPL season in 2016 with the now defunct Rising Pune Supergiants, competing in four matches.
