After their win, Delhi FC now finds themselves at the fourth spot in the I-League table with seven points in four games in the league so far.

Former champions Aizawl FC found themselves at the receiving end on their home turf on Friday, November 17, 2023, when they were outclassed and outplayed 5-1 by Delhi FC in the 2023-24 I-League at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.

It was Gaurav Rawat who started the proceedings with two quick goals coming in the 14th and 23rd minute of the first half. The second half proved to be even more disastrous for Aizwal as they conceded three more thanks to goals from Sroldo da Silva Arruda, Sergio Barboza and Alaaeldin Nasr Eissa Elmagraby in the 61st, 76th and 86th minute respectively.

While heavy and non-stop rain left everyone on and off the pitch completely drenched for the entire period of the match, debutants Delhi FC toyed with their rivals to pick up three points, which took their tally to seven points from four matches.

Aizawl FC had registered a convincing win against NEROCA FC in their previous outing. However, any hope of the home team performing a repeat show was dashed in the first half itself as Guarav Rawat struck twice in the 14th and 23rd minute to give Delhi FC a 2-0 lead.

Aizawl FC pulled one back in the 46th minute through R Lalthanmawia, but that was all they could do. The winners geared themselves up in the last half an hour to slam in three more goals with their three foreigners, Sergio Barbosa Junior, Aroldo da Silva Arruda (both Brazilian) and Alaeldin Eissa Elmaghraby (Egypt), finding the net. The hosts now have six points from four matches.

Delhi FC now find themselves at the fourth spot in the league with seven points from four games level on points with Sreenidi Deccan but behind by goal difference.

Aizawl FC on the other hand is at the seventh spot in the league with six points in their four games as well. Points difference comes into play yet again as they have a worse goal difference compared to Real Kashmir.
